Why am I doing all of this?
Why am I changing my eating habits and what food do I eat?
Cause it was time. I was ready. I was willing. I desperately needed it.
Well I finally gave up and decided well perhaps the drama Queen is right and the complaints are valid and that I should actually start doing something about the whole thing.
So I did.
I made the grave mistake of taking on the lchf diet and oh my god that is not for people that have stomach like I do. So anyone with troubled stomach, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, take on that diet. You are going to pay big time! Delicate drama Queens do not like lot of fat and endless amount of eggs and then some more fat! Mine just ended up vomiting and giving me the pains of a lifetime. GREAT! So that particular diet was thrown out the window as it is NOT good for delicate stomachs so if you are even thinking about it... think again!
Now don't get me wrong, there are tons of things good in the lchf diet but also tons that don't work for all of us due to our drama Queens being what they are.
I attended a conference on-line Future of Nutrition, hosted by Marc David. It was pointed out to me by an Icelandic Yoga teacher Gudni Gunnarson, who was doing one of the interviews. I listened to some of the interviews, some sparking interest and others not. Two people gave me great ideas in there, Jonny Bowden saying, do not listen to the guru's, don't just swallow everything we say. It may not fit you, it may not be perfect for you and you need to pick out what is good for you. It may come from all the diet lifestyles going... the lchf, the paleo, the Virgin, all or any of them. I liked what he was saying cause how can something that works for one individual be exactly what works for another? We are all sensitive to something, its just different things, right.
Another speaker was JJ Virgin and I liked her idea of taking out 7 foods for 3 weeks or 4... and then add one back at a time and by doing so, easily pick out the ones that our drama Queen doesn't tolerate much. If you Google JJ Virgin you will get tons of info.
I do know I tolerate some of those foods and I do know for a fact one of them I do not tolerate and it won't come back into my diet :) I am feeling totally great after just 2 weeks and I am looking forward to see where this will lead me. I will pick and choose what I eat and I will be going for things that fall under different diets and who cares, if it works for me then that is great!
I am now starting week 3 on March 10, I have lost 5 kg's and trust me I know lot of it is liquid cause my legs aren't as swollen, but I also know some of it is that extra weight that hopefully is some fat... lol
Now the 7 foods I skip are,
Sugar (be it added or artificial, I don't eat fruits but never could due to the acids in them driving the drama Queen nuts, My sweet thing is Cantaloupe melon, and I do use berries in my breakfast, oh and Stevia to sweet things up, I use Via Health Stevia and also Stevia from NOW, the vanilla one goes into my breakfast)
Flour/Gluten (this is not coming back, oh and note spelt is flour, most grains got gluten, Oats are gluten but I think that in some places you can get them gluten free but not here in Iceland... lol so off was my porridge)
Eggs (this was a bit of a surprise, and I hope this will be ok when I try them again)
Peanuts (Oh how I panicked my salted peanuts and peanut butter, but wow, try salted almonds and almond butter and you be in heaven)
Corn (Can't say I miss it at all, I don't use sweet corn, no pop corn, no maisena and am leaning to arrowroot for sauce thickener)
Dairy (Been sensitive with that since I was 16 so quite easy not using dairy, my only problem was to let go of cheese but being stubborn is a great thing, I use cocos and almond milk)
Soy (Never liked it much apart from soy sauce but can live without it)
Now some of you may think, what do you eat, there is nothing left. But you are very wrong.
I eat fish and meat and vegetables and salads and found this oh my god delicious raspberry vinegar from Walden's farms, no sugar in it and it is awesome on salad with chicken or steak.
I do not eat nightshade veggies due to high carbs and I actually think my stomach is quite happy with that decision, the drama Queen has never liked things like turnips or even some of the salad stuff like cabbage, no no no, raw cabbage and my drama Queen are NO friends... hahahaha
So I don't eat bread, I don't eat dairy, and with that people seem to panic and think ohhhh there is nothing left to eat. Bullshit, there is tons and tons and then more tons... hahahahaa
You just check my foods in breakfast, lunch and dinner and the snack part :)
Oh and make sure to read labels! They put flour and eggs in the most stupid things and sugar and soy, oh they use that to make flavour. So when you are looking for cocos, cashew or almond milk. Make sure you read the labels cause in many of them they put soy or add sugar. I am a bit pressed for good stuff here in Iceland and so far the one that has the least of added stuff in is ISOLA, I am still to check the cans but they are so very expensive and I like the taste of the ISOLA product, but I know that in other places in the world you can get more organic cocos and almond milk so again read the labels. I haven't yet tried to use simply water instead on the milk... not brave enough yet... hahahaa.
